Advice and treatment for snoring

Snoring occurs when the soft tissues on the upper airways of your mouth collapse against each other, vibrating as air passes through them when you breathe. High blood pressure, strokes and even heart failure can also be symptoms of snoring.

Snoring can be treated in a number of ways and the course of treatment will depend on the severity of the snoring and if there are any dental concerns and on any advice given to you by your dentist.

A dental appliance is normally recommended to keep your jaw in a slightly advanced position, which keeps the tongue slightly forward to help your airway stay as clear as possible.
