Looking for a New Dentist?
Trust our Dental Specialists in Northwood.
This is your first examination with us. Most patients associate a dental check up with a dentist quickly looking around the mouth and telling them the verdict or what is wrong.
Your First Visit – Calm, Unhurried, and Focused on You
If you feel nervous about visiting the dentist, you’re not alone. Many of our new patients tell us they worry about being rushed, judged, or overwhelmed with information. At Dene Dental Practice, we take a different approach.
From the moment you arrive, our focus is on helping you feel at ease.
We start by talking — not examining. We listen to your concerns, past experiences, and what you hope to achieve. Whether you’re here for reassurance, maintenance, or a specific problem, we move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
Your general health is an important part of this conversation. Understanding any medical conditions or medications helps us ensure your care is safe and appropriate, and gives you confidence that nothing is being overlooked.
When we examine your mouth, it is done gently and methodically. We look at how your jaw moves and functions, the health of the soft tissues, your gums, and your teeth — always explaining what we are doing and why.
Seeing, Not Guessing
We believe understanding reduces anxiety.
Using our iTero Lumina digital scanner, we can take precise 3D images of your teeth without messy impressions or discomfort. You can see your teeth on screen as we talk things through, helping you understand your oral health clearly and visually.
When more detailed information is needed, we may recommend 3D CBCT imaging using the Carestream 8200 scanner. This allows us to assess the teeth, jawbone, nerves, and supporting structures with exceptional accuracy. CBCT imaging is only used when clinically necessary and helps us plan treatment safely and predictably — often reducing the need for uncertainty or surprises later on.
A Partnership, Not a Pressure
There is no pressure to proceed with treatment. Once your assessment is complete, we take time to explain our findings in plain language, discuss your options, and answer your questions.
Any decisions are made together, and nothing is rushed.
Our aim is simple:
to help you feel informed, supported, and confident in your care — from your very first visit.
